It will have a simple plan for the site because it will be looked at my teachers, parents and kids. I do not want it to complicated due to the fact not everyone, inlcuding teachers, are on the same page when it comes to surfing the internet. On the left hand side it will have categories that you can click on to take you to that link. It will be like this:

Charecteristics of a cyber bully

Resources

When you click on the page you'd like to go to the options will be on the left hand site to link to you to wherever else you want to go.

On the statistics- It will include some cyber bullying stats

What is a Cyber Bully- Give the defiinitions of the cyber bully

Blog 19- My Presentation

So, how do you know who is a cyber bully or who is being cyber bullied? What are the charecteristics of these people?

Raise your hand if you have ever been cyber bullied, honestly.

Raise your hand if you have ever cyber bullied someone.

So, do these people fit into the charecteristics of a bully, or a cyber bully?

Some people think of a cyber bully and think of a geek.. which most actually are not.

Quote"Bullying has entered the digital age. The impulses behind it are the same, but the effect is magnified. In the past, the materials of bullying would have been whispered, shouted or passed around. Now, with a few clicks, a photo, video or a conversation can be shared with hundreds via email or millions through a website, online profile or blog posting," writes Amanda Lenhart of Pew.http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/saabira-chaudhuri/itinerant-mind/cyber-bullying-its-not-about-sticks-and-stones

SO why do people cyber bully?

Cyber bullies can take advantage of the anonymity that the online interaction often offers. This makes them more confident and less concerned with the consequences

Out of these groups of kids, can you tell who is the cyber bully?

"Yeah. I used to be best friends with this girl and one night, me and my friends were just kind of, I don't know why, but we just decided to be kind of mean to her. We started calling her all these names and everything. After that, I regretted it… I tried to be her friend again, but she didn't want to because like she didn't want me to hurt her. So I guess I deserved it, but it made me feel really bad because I knew I shouldn't have done it"

Yup, this is a cyber bully. Wouldnt of thought huh?

"Although there is little research, it is a fact that Although it might be reasonable to assume that people who cyber bully have certain features in common with those who engage in traditional bullying (eg, more accepting of violence, little compassion), there are probably unique characteristics of those who cyber bully. Research shows that boys are more likely than girls to engage in traditional bullying (ie, physical and verbal acts that hurt another person, that happen repeatedly, and that make it difficult for the victim to defend himself or herself).1,9-13 Boys are also more likely than girls to engage in direct, physical forms of bullying whereas girls are more likely to engage in indirect forms of bullying (eg, ostracism and gossiping). Not surprisingly, girls (13%) more than boys (9%) report perpetrating cyber bullying—an indirect form of aggression.5 Importantly, more girls (25%) than boys (11%) report being targets of cyber bullying."

Heightened levels of social anxiety have been observed among perpetrators of cyber bullying.1 Furthermore, among individuals who cyber bully, those who do so most frequently report the highest levels of social anxiety.1 Importantly, however, even among respondents who frequently perpetrated cyber bullying, targets of cyber bullying still reported higher levels of social anxiety.

Blog 18th-In Class Activity

1.) The kinds of media I engage with is, yes, the obvious TVand texting. My source of media is differernt dependding on my mood. I always wathced mature TV when I was even little. I enjoyed scary movies and talk shows but my mom used to see they were ok to watch first. This changed as i got older, i got to prewview it for myself. But mostly the same. I also do the following:
Blogger
Facebook
Gmail
TV
Music online
Texting

2.)Blogger- 45 mInutes- 1 Hour
Facebook- Depending on who or what I am stalking, 1 hour
Gmail- 30 minutes
Texting- um about 15 hours of my day
Wow I didnt realize that alot of times i make fun of facebookers and texter, but look now who is doing it. o god

3.) I always have to have a "background" noise so"
Composing a paper- Listening to music from my Itunes, Tv is on in the background 3
Study for an Exam- TV is on, but very quietly, more just for the visual 2
Conduct reseach- tv is on, music is on, i am scanning through the web 5
2+3+5= 10/3
= 3.3

4.)Drive- Listeninng to music and talking on the phone ( i know it is bad) 4
Eat a meal by yourself- TV is on or I am standing up eating quick to go to my next meeting or class...texting 5
Eat with family/Friends- tv is on...texting 5
Household Chores- Music is on, but then go browse if bored on facebook, watch some tv but still music is on...texting 4

O god. I shouldnt admit this but

4+5+5+4=18/4=4.50

5.)Watching Tv, texting or talking on the phone, browsing through facebook or gmail

SCALE 5

a. In which category were you most likely to use hyper attention? in which category were you most likely to use deep attention? Or do you seem to have a consistent style (all hyper or deep attention)? How would you explain this?

The cateogy that I was most lkely to use hyper attention would be the section of me relaxing. I am the biggest multi tasker around when it comes to doing nothing. I see it as an everyday things where I just hang around, and text n go on facebook while watching tv and talking on the phone.. No Biggy

The deeper attention would be studying for a test because I need more concentration for that but I still have hyper attention because I am not compltely surrounded by silence. Most people are not able to study with people talking in the background, but living on campus for a while, I have become accustomed to it and when I study now I cant do it in complete silence. it makes me go crazy

I guess its all on how yor grew up in a sense that your study skills or your work skills how you have adapted to your enviroment. What do you do to relax? Some people dont own a cell phone and will sit in silence reading a book. I think it all depends on the person.

b. In which category was there the largest range of numbers ( for example, some activities rated 1, some rated 5). Can you explain why the range might be large for this category

Section 3 I think was the largest range of number but then agian it is all how you study. My boyfriend cannot study for an exam unless there is music blasting! I on the other hand can study with background noise but only until a certain level. Conducting research is something that you go and do on your own pace. So you can have music blasting or you can have silence.

c. In which category did you have the most consistent style? Why do you think this is so?

The most consisten style would be my free time. It is whatever I am doing to relax and it doesnt matter what i have to do. I just do it

7. How would you characterize yourself in terms of patterns for attending? Do these numbers reflect how you would characterize yourself (in terms of attention)? What correlations or inconsistencies do you see between your feeling about how you think and these numbers? Can you explain them?

This exercise made me realize what I do when I study and I ask myself if this is the correct way to do it but then aigan its been working for years so i guess it is. The patterns are about right with the numbers without me even realzing it.

Revised Essay

Are danger and tip lists helpful or harmful for identify cyber bullies, helpful or harmful?

In todays society, stereo typing is very common. You see a Muslim decent boarding a plane and thoughts start racing through your mind. Should I stay on this plane? Should I be nervous? Did they get through the checkpoint without security issues? All because of one thing: They are Muslim. In todays classroom, teachers teach students about how harmful stereotyping can actually be. They provide lesson plans to teach students that stereo typing can not only hurt peoples feelings but can also cause tension in the classroom.

How can someone tell if someone is a cyberbully or if someone just has the charectierictis.? What if you stereo type a cyber bully and you are wrong?

Cyberbullying involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behaviour by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others. www.cyberbullying.org -conceived of, and created by Bill Belsey, creator and facilitator of www.bullying.org

Cyber bulling is on a rise.According to the National Crime Prevention Center, over 40% of all teenagers with Internet access have reported being bullied online during the past year.

Social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace are growing fast, and so are the cyberbullying incidents originating from them. Experts believe that they will soon overtake chat rooms as the top source of cyberbullying problems worldwide.

According to extensive research on middle school age students and teenagers online, the fastest growing problems within the world of cyberbullying are:

-Stealing an individual’s name and password to a social networking site, then using their profile to post rumors, gossip or other damaging information.

-Altering photographs using PhotoShop or other photo editing software in order to humiliate the individual.

-Recording conversations without the individual’s knowledge or consent, then posting the call online.

-Creating confrontational and mean-spirited online polls about the individual and posting them on different web sites.

-Using web sites and blogs to post hurtful, embarrassing information about another individual.

So, how do we spot these cyber bullys? Are the danger and tip lists helpful or harmful to identify these cyberbullies?

I am going to do extensive research phycoogically of kids who create this tension between people who cyber bullying and also interviews of children who have cyber bullied and why they have done this.
